An American pilot is reported missing in Iran, in the area of Bouthr, after new Iranian claims about the loss of an American aircraft. At this stage, no US authority has publicly confirmed the disappearance of a pilot in the southern Iranian province. The Iranian media, on the other hand, reported a new air incident and the possibility that a pilot might have ejected over or near the area.
The exact type of device remains uncertain. The most recent Iranian accounts speak of an « advanced » American plane and some messages relayed in the pro-Iranian ecosystem evoke an F-35. But this version has not been confirmed by Washington, and disputes have already existed in recent days over the identification of debris attributed to an alleged F-35. At this stage, it is therefore not possible to establish independently whether it is an F-35, an F-15 or another device.
The province of Bouchehr is already at the heart of regional tensions. In particular, it is home to the Bouchr nuclear power plant, about which Moscow has indicated its intention to request a one-time ceasefire to allow the evacuation of Russian personnel. The area has also been cited in several dispatches related to strikes and alerts in recent days.
Images also circulate on social networks, presented as showing American Black Hawk and C-130 devices engaged in research. At this time, I did not find independent confirmation, from reliable sources consulted, to authenticate these images, their exact date or their direct connection to the reported disappearance near Bouthr. They cannot therefore be treated as established facts.
A recent precedent, however, explains the attention paid to this new alert. On 19 March, an American F-35 made an emergency landing after an Iranian theatre-related combat mission, and his pilot was declared alive and stable. This episode had already shown that a high-level American aircraft could be reached or put in difficulty in this conflict.
